Oscar DanskWorking with TGC was great because the teaching really helped with my fundamentals as a goalie which is key to learn in order to succeed in the future. In our lectures I also learned a lot about setting goals both for the season and the career! Thanks!

Brady HjelleI have been fortunate enough to work with Coach Des indivually and also through camp with TGC and cannot say enough about them.  They do a great job of working with your strengths as a goaltender and helping you develop new techniques that you can use to help improve your game.  TGC also had some good dryland training and nutritional advice to help you stay on top of your game.  I would highly recommend working with Coach Des and TGC for any goalie, young or old, looking to take the next step in their game.

Hi Des,

I hope Riley can continue to train with TGC on a regular basis to retain and build on the skills he has learned at TGC and implement them during the hockey season. I wanted to tell you that the TGC camp Riley attended at Shattuck was pivotal for him. I saw him mature, gain confidence and he found a real sense of belonging with other goalies. Training with all goaltenders and goaltenders of all ages was something I recognize as an important aspect for Riley's development.

Coach Des,

I am not sure who was on the ice with Keaton on Sunday, but can you please tell them Thank you!! A million times thank you.

I noticed one of the coaches checking out Keaton's mask at the beginning of practice so when he was showing me his new move last night I asked him if they liked his mask. Usually he doesn't share much about the sessions as I am the Mom and not on the ice, I am just there for support, which I am entirely fine with. So, if he doesn't say anything so be it. He said that the coach said his roommate at college had diabetes and that he coaches for TGC but doesn't make it to the Faribault sessions, or something like that. Little comments like that for a kid who has to deal with the ups and downs of diabetes 24/7 mean so much as he knows others have went that path and did just fine. It definitely was something that made his day, and mine. So I just wanted to send a quick Thank you to whoever was on the ice yesterday, I appreciate the interaction.

Hi Coach,

I wanted to thank you for coming to Des Moines and putting on an absolutely amazing camp this weekend. My son Wyatt has only been playing goalie for a year and this instruction was perfectly done for him. He had so much fun and I was impressed with how you guys were able to work so easily with all levels of goalies. We are so happy and feel that this camp was worth every penny. I truly hope you and your wonderful coaches will make another trip to Des Moines again! Thanks again.

Hi Coach Des –

I can’t thank you enough for such a well run camp. Your coaches were so engaged with their goalies.. You could tell they had a passion and a talent for what they were doing and cared for each and every goalie they were working with. The level of professionalism, thoroughness of the basics and beyond, and overall camp experience more than exceeded my expectations. That you took time to personalize Caleb’s evaluation booklet, with comments and advice for future development, still blows me away. And you did it for each of the many goalies out there! You worked them hard but showed care, compassion, heart, and soul…and great sense of humor.

We will definitely be attending future goalie club events. I am also hoping that we will be able to take some private lessons with Coach Will as our AAA practice and travel schedule allows.

Thanks again, Coach Des! Look forward to keeping in touch.

Debbie N.

Coach Des

I wanted to start by thanking you and your staff for the fabulous camp you put on that my son Ian Hedican participated in at SSM June 21-26. He learned a great deal and as his primary goalie coach during the season, and the other club goaltenders, I took exhaustive notes and video. You have put together a great group of coaches who along with yourself can really push, elevate and support goaltenders of all age and skill levels. Thank you for making it such a fun and productive week for Ian and for myself.

Thanks again and look forward to seeing you next year.

Sean H.

Des

Just wanted to let you know that for a second year in a row Nicholas just loved camp. Thank you so much for putting on such a professional, well run camp for the kids.

Debbie C.

I would like to let you know that we have been very pleased with the stories Eric tells us from camp. He tells us how you tell them about how important it is to be careful what they put on social media, how they dress, and how doing things like chewing tobacco can effect their future. It is hard sometimes raising respectful, good kids in today's society and they only listen to their parents to a certain degree but cling to every word a coach tells them. We appreciate not only you teaching our son good goalie skills but we really appreciate that you teach him in these other important areas of life that will help him way beyond hockey! Thanks again for all you do!

This is just a short email to thank you for organizing the visits of The Goalie Club to Missoula. Thank you!

It was an awesome kick in the breezers and a lot of fun. The coaches were absolutely outstanding and I learned a tremendous amount even though I was the old guy slowing everyone down. Those kids have so much energy but they probably don’t realize how lucky they are to be doing this at a young age.

When I first came to Shattuck I wasn't sure what to expect in working with a new goalie coach. Almost a year later I can tell you that working with Coach Des has been better than I could ever have imagined. Coach Des is an incredible teacher who makes certain that all aspects of my game are sharp and that I am always ready to compete. He has tremendous knowledge, is extremely supportive and always willing to give of his time. If you have a chance to work with Coach Des you should absolutely take advantage of it. Thank you Coach Des for making sure that I am always playing at the top of my game!

Aerin F.

Hi, Des

Thanks to you and the other TGC coaches for all the work you have done with Wyatt. He has clearly benefitted from your coaching and you and your coaches are certainly top-notch. My only hope is you hang in there until Wyatt gets through high school.

Wyatt looks good and our plans are to start attending the MAHA goalie sessions beginning this Sunday. See you soon!

Steve W.

Hi Des!,

This is Katie. I Hope all is well. I wanted to let you know what a great experience I had at your camps this summer. Both my sister and brother and myself are so glad we had the opportunity to participate! Your drills and approach to training really helped us each week and I could see improvement on a lot of my own different skills. Also, both my brother and sister and I would be interested in being shooters for any other sessions coming up in the near future or even something a little later.

Thanks for everything,

Katie B.

Just wanted you guys to know that Zach looked great at his first tournament after the TGC camp. He went 12 consecutive periods of shut out hockey including 70 saves in a row. Total of 4 goals allowed in 5 games. I thought you guys would appreciate this. :-)

I should also mention that he was selected as one of the top 10 goalies in the state for an invite only tournament aimed at the top 2nd year Peewees. Should be a fun little tournament to watch and see how he stacks up against the best.

It's all the work you've done with Z-Man over the years that has made him the goalie he is today. I certainly can't help him and as you guys know most coaches don't know how to develop their goalies. Looking forward to another great season and watching him continue to evolve with your help. I love watching him play!

Greg H.

Thank you very much for all you do. I have to tell you that your camps are beyond compare. The organization, energy and enthusiasm you personally show as well as your staff for hockey and goal tending in particular I have not seen by any type of hockey camp owner. I was very pleased with watching my son grow as a goaltender over the course of 5 days. It was very refreshing to see your staff take the time to explain, correct and encourage each student as they went thru their stations and the time you personally took with each student had such a positive effect on their performance overall. Again I really appreciate all you and your staff do. Please give your staff a that-a-boy(girl) from us. Have a great fall and upcoming season.

I thought I should let you know about the Mite games at New Ulm last Saturday. Two games at the same time, cross ice. New Ulm split their Mites A (good) and B (not so good) while Mankato just fielded two teams without considering ability. Wyatt played goalie and drew New Ulm A. He was absolutely peppered by shots, yet his team won 5-4 (the other game was 11-0 Mankato). Wyatt clearly was the difference in the game and I have had several Mankato and New Ulm coaches and parents tell me how well he played. Wyatt was "mobbed" by his teammates after the game.

No shots went under Wyatt's pads or through him. For the most part, he played with his pads on the ice and seems to have retained what you and the other coaches have been teaching him. If you have the chance, you may want to forward this message to Grant as I thought the 2 lessons he had with him were very helpful.

Thanks, Des.

Steve

Coach,

Thank you so much for coming out to Missoula and especially for your patience with us more aged beer league guys. I had a blast. Hockey is going really well and everyone is noticing the changes in my game. I'm making a point of skating those circles every time I hit the ice; they're a great warm up.

Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to the spring clinic.

Nigel

Thanks to Coach Des and his staff for a great week in Rapid City. I learned new things and was pushed to improve on movementd that I already knew. Coach Des is awesome to work with and hope to go again next summer.

Thanks

Daryl S.

Coach Des,

We just want to say thank you. This was Luc’s first year attending one of your camps. He attended the Private Lesson Camp at Shattuck in June. It was amazing to see the difference and growth as a goalie from the first night to the last day. You and your staff are wonderful, encouraging, and truly want to see the goalies learn and grow each time on and off the ice, which we saw in him throughout the week. Luc has continued to work hard, and we are looking forward to another great travel season from him.

Luc is already wanting to come back and can’t wait till next year!!!

Again Thank You to you and your staff!!!

Rick, Tracy, & Luc H.

Dear Coach Des,

I would like to thank you again for the great experience I had last week at TGC. Just like last year, you have helped me become a better goaltender. It has been a privilege for me to be taught by such great coaching.

I am now ready to go into my evaluation camp in Montreal for Bantam AA -AAA and I am very confident in myself. I worked hard all summer especially at TGC. It was a great camp for me and I improved a lot on many skills that I had trouble with. I also looked at my evaluation report that I received in my folder. I compared it with last year's and I realize that I have made a lot of improvements with my game.

I had so much fun last week in all activities, and with the entire group, and I hope to come back next year to keep improving and getting better and better.

Thank you and good luck this season with all teams at SSM.

Thomas L.

Coach Des

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide the lessons for Kiron. He really enjoyed working with you. He attended the camp and Shattuck the following week. While he was a day camper he learned a lot about an away camp (something he has not done before) and what he'd need to do to be successful. He also enjoyed taking a lot of shots. He did not get as much out of the goalie training, and definitely would prefer to attend one of your camps for goalie training in the future.

Thanks again and have a great summer.

Priya M.

Congrats on 10years!!! It was Katie's best experience, which took to the next level. She was named To the ACHA All American 1st Team last year. Thanks Coach Des for helping make Katie's hockey so rewarding. Cheers

Robin S.

Des,

Thought I would let you know that Mikayla played outstanding tonight and kept her team in the game despite being out shot 31-6, of which 5 of our shots came in the 3rd period. Her save % was .903 which is a HUGE improvement from our last tournament. She was blocking the back door, making breadbasket saves and coming out and poke checking aggressive skaters. She kept them in it that's for sure. She said that was a 'normal' performance. If so, I'd like to see what outstanding looks like! There's a few videos posted on our team fb page, a parent was shooting from behind our net. She was moving much better as well this game.

Thanks for you help in her prep for this tournament! Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings vs. The Mavericks!

Lynnette B.

Thanks very much for your response Coach. I appreciate your time and I will look into those options. From our limited experience, your group has been first class.

My son is Kevin Aldridge. He is playing for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in the NAHL.  He just mentioned that Craig was his favorite coach throughout his career, so I thought I would try and reach out to Craig to let him know how he helped Kevin get to where he is.

Hi Des!! Eryn is doing great! She talks all the time about TGC and just Monday told me she thinks she's convinced a couple of her friends to come as shooters with her this summer. Bryan and I couldn't be more pleased with her play.  She incorporates everything you corrected her on and taught her - she is "beautiful" in the net. She plays for Chicago Young Americans U12- unfortunately even Bryan said it looks like the team doesn't play hard for her and expects her to always stand on her head. I have a few videos of some games and we review them (taken by another dad) and realize all the little things you helped with. Hope all is well and thank you for checking in!

Hi Des,

Little update on Mary Jane. Wow, has this kid turned it on. Due to an injury to her opposite goalie teammate Mary Jane has stepped up to fill the position so far beyond my expectations and her coaches. She is playing to give her teamates a fighting chance

She is working hard in practice. Has come off her line to the top of the crease. Her glove has improved dramatically and her willingness to block the lanes and take a hit while making the save is impressive.

When I asked her if Camp is coming back to her she says,"oh yea". She is happy, engaged and getting stronger in herself everyday. She laughs at the crowd now.

How cool is that.

Thanks to you and your staff.

Ralph P. Jr.

Coach Des,

Just wanted to send a quick update and well deserved "Thank You" for all that you and The Goalie Club coaches did for Joel this summer.  He has improved his game tremendously.  His head coach and the Orlando Youth Hockey Association goalie director described him to today as simply "Awesome"; easily keeping pace with two 98 AAA goalies, one of which was a NTDPSE selection last year.  He had them both trying to do your "switch foot" drill ("thigh burners" as Joel likes to call them) during center ice mirror drills. Your small shuffle adjustment drills have helped him over-come in-close adjustment problems he struggled with in the past.  Additionally, the constant tracking mental focus drills you guys drilled into him over those 2 weeks have instilled in him a "laser like attachment" to the puck whenever he is on the ice. We are off to Tampa next weekend for the Jr Bolts Labor Day Tournament and he is eager to put these skills to work.

P.S.  Looking forward to any camps you have scheduled over the Christmas break.

Jim & Allison S.

Hi Des,

I hope that all your subsequent camps have gone well. Mary Jane, July 28th - Aug 3 camp, had a tremendous camp concerning her desire to play the position and willingness to to try and overcome adversity as a goalie. She firmly believes that she has accomplished a major feat in hockey. Without you and your tremendous staff this camp could have been a disaster for her. I can not tell you how proud I am of you and your crew. As to my daughter, your camp was perfect. Thank you and thank you towards your staff.

Warm Regards to you and yours and again thank you.

Ralph P. Jr.

Thanks for the call, Gina really appreciated it a lot. Your much more than a Goalie coach for these guys and they are extremely lucky......

Steve S.

Coach Des,

I hope your year has been awesome!

Another hockey season has come and gone - what a whirlwind! Since our last communication attached below, Jack tried out for the Squirt travel team, made the team, was the starter throughout the season, collected 6  shut-outs in a 45 game season, his team won the state championship, finished with a .893 save percentage, he was invited to play in the Big Sky State games this weekend, and has been formally asked to join the Montana Thunderblades (select team of 11yo's) for the 2012-13 season. To him, the success he had is no coincidence. Before attending your camp last August he was considering hanging up the skates because his confidence was so low. He firmly believes that everything that's happened is a direct result of what he learned at TGC. So he's coming back!

Just need some advice: I presume that since he's only going to be 11 when he arrives and that he's been a goalie for 3 years that he should still enroll in the "Fundamental" camp? He believes that he still has many things from the fundamentals concepts to master that were taught last year. If so, would there be any additional advantage of going with a 2:1 ratio vs the 3:1?

Much appreciated - looking forward to seeing you this Summer!

Mike

Hi Des,

Thanks for the training sessions in Hutch this season.  It was very convenient to be right at our home arena...we loved that!  The trainers were excellent as usual.  Austin had to miss a few times due to scheduled Sunday evening Bantam games, but otherwise he was there every time that he could be.  We are bummed that TGC will no longer be in Hutch for the summer camp, but understand it's because we won't have available ice at that time.  So we will be siging up for either Eagan again or maybe Victoria.

Also, just a side note.  About 3 weeks ago, Austin was asked to play up on our JV team because our Varisty goalie got into a bit of trouble at the end of the season.  We only have 2 goalies between our JV and Varsity Teams.  He played 3 end-of-season JV games and did an awesome job.  In fact some of the parents said they'd be petitioning for him to come back to JV next year.  But he's only a first year Bantam so I doubt that will happen.  He was asked on a Thursday night after practice to help the JV team out, and the next night he was in the net for a JV game against St. Cloud Cathedral with no prior practice with the team.  He played an amazing game and they only lost by 1 and it was because the coach pulled Austin out the net to put another skater out & they scored on an open net.  Then the following Tuesday they played in Delano (another top rated team) and he played very well again, and then almost had a shut-out on that last season game against Waconia last Friday night.  In the last 6 minutes of the game, he made the initial save but then it bounced off his own team-mate's leg and back into the net it went.  I was so nervous for him to play up but he's proved he can definitely handle it...we are so proud of him!...and it's all thanks to the four summers of TGC camps that he's attended and the help of your awesome coaching staff...he's on his way to being a great goaltender...Thank you!!

Michelle K.

Why TGC?

It is simple.....TGC is simply the best when it comes to training all levels of goaltenders. My son has been training with Coach Des and the TGC staff for more than 4 years. Coach Des is amazing with the goalies. The first thing that I noticed is that Coach Des knows every student by name, where they play, and their experience level before they even step out on the ice for the first training session. It is apparent that many of the goalies are very surprised when he greets them using their name during the warm-up skate. Goalies respond to him because he takes a vested interest in "who" each goalie is. He communicates with each goalie, always building their awareness and self-esteem. Coach Des has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with the students. The TGC philosophy is based on building on each goalies strengths as well as provide tools and alternative techniques to improve any weaknesses that a goalie may have, rather than dictate how a goalie should play. Coach Des carefully selects his support staff, ensuring that they bring the same personal focus when working with the goalies. He and his staff come thoroughly prepared each training session with a fun but challenging practice plan and they execute it flawlessly. The focus of each practice plan begins with skating and edge work (which is often overlooked by most other goalie training providers) and follows through with 4 or more "skill stations" where a drill to enhance specific skills are taught.

The bottom line is we choose TGC because of Coach Des, his staff and quality training. My son would not be the goalie that he is without Coach Des and the TGC staff.

"Six years ago our daughter Lauren came home from school and announced that she wanted to play hockey, as a goalie. She also proclaimed that her goals were to play D1 and Olympic hockey. Pretty lofty goals for a 4th grader, especially since we knew very little about hockey and even less about goaltending! So we sought out training for her and an education for our family. As luck would have it, Des Christopher was running a goalie camp in our hometown. What an incredible experience! That camp gave our daughter the foundation she needed to pursue her goals. Over the past six years it has been truly amazing to watch our daughter progress physically and psychologically by working with Des and The Goalie Club staff. Their knowledge of this demanding position and their ability to connect and communicate with our daughter has allowed her to clearly understand what she must master to progress to the next level. If your child wants to become the best goaltender they can be, I strongly urge you to contact Des about joining The Goalie Club. It has been the best hockey decision we have made!"

BrodeurHaving my sons at Shattuck and at The Goalie Club for the past years gives me peace of mind that their development is taken care of with the structure of the goalie program, and at the same time, being themselves in the way that they believe the position should be played. It's been a great experience for my boys.

Our son Tyler trained with you a few years back. Tyler played for Monticello and had a great [State 1A ] tournament.

Thanks for everything you taught him when he was younger. He needed every bit of it. He has never found another person he has truly enjoyed working with.

Jeff K.

Fantastic! Max SOOOO enjoys these sessions. We use it as a reward for other behavior.

I also wanted to give you some feedback on your coaches. Max has so much respect for coach Isaac. He provides clear, understandable instruction, plenty of positive reinforcement and doesn't let the players slack off. The practices are well organized with consistent warm ups and stretching (which Max uses in his regular practice and games) followed by station work with immediate and constructive feedback.

Max is young but we can see the results of these sessions in his regular play. He has greater focus, more refined technique and is building a solid foundation on which to develop his skills.

Thank you for running a great program.

Terry L.

We do Spring hockey and then do summer goalie camps. The Goalie Club is absolutely excellent for goalies, almost no shooters allowed. Mostly in Minnesota but the goalies work on everything from skating, glove saves, angles, visual training, leadership and emotional intelligence.

Des,

I am not the one that normally sends out an email after going to training session but I wanted to drop you a note about our first experience with the goalie club.

I wanted to compliment you and your staff regarding our experience during the skills session yesterday. Gavin showed up and was a little apprehensive as every 7 year old would be. Isaac spoke to him in the locker room prior to getting on the ice and asked if he had any questions. Gavin got on the ice and I must say I was very impressed. Being a goaltender that played at the Junior A level, I have been exposed to a lot of different coaches and styles. Isaac and Will were excellent. The individualized attention, the drills, and the focus on fundamental skills were hands down great.

I spoke with Isaac after the training when he came in to follow up with Gavin and I, I explained to him that Gavin only plays goalie half time right now as he focuses on his skating skills. I am bringing Gavin to the Goalie Club to be built from the ground up without any bad habits. Isaac was very complimentary on how Gavin picked up some skills and shared some areas that Gavin should work on in between sessions. Once again, the sign of a great mentor and coach.

Once again, Please pass along to Isaac and Will that they did an amazing job and Gavin is excited about his next training already. He couldn't stop talking all the way back to Rosemount after yesterday.

We were really impressed with the difference that the Goalie Club camp made in JP's play. He came back home looking like he really knew what he was doing. I look forward to bringing him up there for more coaching throughout the year.

A couple of weeks ago, JP played goal in a youth stick time at a local rink here in Atlanta. There was one Div I and several NAHL and NA3HL players on the rink. JP looked good and still made some good plays.

I know that I am probably just a proud dad talking, but for having just started ice goalie in April, I think he looks pretty good. I am sure that over the years you will make him look better.

Rick D.

Just wanted to say "thank you" to you and your staff for the goalie session today. Cam really enjoyed it and learned "a ton", in his words. Thank you for offering this service- we hope to find some other opportunities to get over that way and take advantage further.

Hey Des!

Thanks for the message! Tyler thought it was so cool!

He was in the Chisago Lakes tourney this weekend and his team won the Championship! Tyler had three shut-outs in a row, which helped him win Outstanding Goalie of the tournament!

Thanks for being great coaches and we will be at the Holiday Camp!!

Steve A.

Dear Des,
I know that Charlie had a great time at camp and learned so much. He is determined to make a crickleball bat out of his current goalie stick! Let us know when you have the dates for next year's camp, we would love to continue with TGC.

Thanks again,

Betsy & David Edmondson

Hey Coach Des,

Thanks for the great camp experience last week. Tim absolutely loved it and was bummed that it went by so fast. He was extremely happy with everything. I wanted to check with you to see if you will be having small group skills training this fall at SSM other days than Sunday.

Thanks again

Gary P.

Just wanted to send you a quick note Thanking you again for your camp in Eagan. Ashli and Mea both loved it and I can see improved in both of them at our weekly skates since. They can’t wait to come down for another one. Thanks Again!

Hi Coach Des,

I hope all is well. Anthony really enjoyed the camp this summer.

Thanks again to you and your team for providing him with a great experience at the camp.

Mikko 8 games since the holiday camp:

.934 sv% .875 GAA. 4 shutouts. 1 SO win. 2 tournament 'chips. The SO today allowed only 1 goal in 7 shooters...totally awesome game!!! She goes for it! She's playing well right now, finally hitting her stride after the concussion. Camp helped tremendously!

Thanks Des!

Hi Coach Des! I just wanted to share a pic with you of Kieran. It was from this past weekend in Rapid City at a first-year Squirt level hockey tournament. The Oahe Capitals won the tournament by winning all 4 games. Kieran goalied 2 of the 4 games, including the championship game (where this pic was taken.) The Capitals scored 26 goals total against all of their opponents and only allowed 9 goals total in all 4 games; of those 9 goals, 2 were in Kier's first game goalieing and 3 in his last game goalieing (the championship game.) Most importantly, he's becoming more confident, more relaxed, is relying on his technique more instinctively, and is falling in love with goalieing again. :)

Just wanted to share the good news with you and your staff! Everyone's hard work in your summer camp is manifesting itself. :)

Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello TGC Staff,

Thank you much for all of your help over the past couple of season! You have help me become very comfortable in the goalie position. I have learned thing that have helped me be successful. Three weeks after attending the Mankato camp my Storm AAA team competed in the Combat Cup. Our team went 5-0 on our way to winning the Championship. I had a GAA of 1 on the weekend. I so posted a shut out. This is proof that TGC can help you get the best best out of your self.

Coach Des,

Our 10 year old has been to your camp in Mankato for two years and he has also been to other skater camps over the past 4 years. This is the best run camp of them all as it gets him involved with older goalies that he looks up to and he then works to their level. I love the fact that they still have fun but are expected to compete and work at a higher level. It is a camp that shows kids all the things that go into playing goalie from on the ice to off, physical and mental. By far the best camp around. As the TGC world grows we now house a Junior goalie from MN that went to TGC camps for many years and he looking to get to collegiate level. He and our son speak the same TGC language every day in all their stories.

Thanks for everything you do with the TGC camps!!

Coach Des,

Thank you!!! These are wonderful. With me and my husband being over 900 miles away I really appreciate you and your team taking the time to do this. Cameron is having the time of his life and loving your camp!! I just cannot say thank you enough to you and your team! Have a great Wednesday!

Des and staff,

My son Jake Ball attended your camp in Mankato last week. This was his first time training with TGC other than a couple of clinics held in Albert Lea over Christmas break. I just wanted to tell you what a great experience it was for him, he had a blast! He would come home each day and write his own notes on the daily handouts and tell us all about the drills, video sessions, trivia, games etc. Kudos to you and your team for having the perfect balance of top notch instruction, hard work & fun. Jake will definitely be back!

Hi Coach, just wanted to thank you again for setting up the lesson for my son Ryan. He had an awesome time, and Coach Grant was terrific! The payment is in the mail, and if you have any coaches that are interested we'd love to have him back during the last week of August (or close to it). Thanks again and have a great week.

Ken

Des,

Just wanted to say how much you and your coaches have touched our family and especially Noah and his self esteem. We are forever greatful for the high level of professionalism and courtesy you have shown Noah and your other goalies.

Thank you!

Todd B.

Thanks Coach,

Aubrey Mckay, would be very interested in doing the camp again in the fall. She said, "that was amazing, and had a really great time".

Chris was a little in shock last night, he hung up the phone and could hardly speak for a few minutes.  :-)  One of the scouts told Chris that he was shocked that he had gotten that good by playing with such a poor HS team.  With hard work and the support of people like YOU Des, he most certainly can!

Thank you for all you do for our goalies.  Knowing you (and The Goalie Club) are there for Chris has meant a lot to our family.

Thanks for the camp today!  He loved it!  He won't stop talking about it!

Hi Des,

Hope you and your family are doing well. Just thought I’d let you know that Peter got his first college win in net last week. He’s a Plebe Midshipman at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point , NY.  They play ACHA in the Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference, in and around New York City. He’s enjoying hockey and having fun with it, which is good because a Plebe’s life is pretty much designed to eliminate fun. He’s going to become a commercial deck officer, possibly on oil tankers. Over his sophomore/junior year he will spend a whole year at sea, travelling around the world. Just wanted to give you an update on your former student. Thanks for all you do, and have a good Thanksgiving.

Dear Coach Des,

I wanted to tell you that I was selected for the Richelieu Patriotes Pee wee AA last week. I am very happy. I want to thank you for the help and advice and time spent with me on the ice during The Goalie Club camp.

I played well throughout the three weeks of evaluations. There were 25 goalies for four jobs.

Thank you again for the support. I really enjoyed my visit in Minnesota.  Good luck to you and the Sabres.

See you next year.

Hi Des,
Jessica thoroughly enjoys being a shooter at TGC; it's one of her favorite camps of the summer.

She's get in a ton of shots during the week and the repetition helps to increase her shooting skills each time.

Jess also enjoys the fun interaction with the coaches and the friendly competition with the goalies, as she tries to score on them!

As a parent, I appreciate that she looks forward to going each day.  In addition, the low cost makes the camp a great value.

We plan to sign up for the full-day session next summer, since she feels the half-day goes by too quickly!

Keep up the great work.  The coaching staff is awesome!

See you next year.

Sheri

Des-

Eryn had the BEST time and didn't want to come home. She said all the goalies, your staff and YOU were the nicest people she has ever met! And on top of all that - she said it was awesome and hard :) Erika and Eryn became best friends along with a young man from Florida PRICELESS All the best till next summer.

Coach Des,

I just picked up Oliver at the airport he had the best time. Thank you very much he loved it and learned a lot, every night he would tell me how hard he was working and the new drills he has learned. This is the first camp he has ever been too. He can't wait until next years camp. Thanks again.

Des,

The weekend at the Meltdown was fantastic and beyond everyone's expectations! The team she played with ended up taking 3rd place, not a bad accomplishment considering the team was thrown together for this tournament and had never practiced together!

The first game was a little rough, as you can imagine with no practice time, AND we had to play the Blades first (they won the tournament). Conservatively, Mikayla faced over 20 SOG just in the first period, allowing 6 goals and all were rebounds as the defense just wasn't used to each other yet and didn't clear the puck. But the team finally settled down and the Blades were only able to score 4 goals on 23 SOG in the remaining 2 periods. She only wished she had one back she said, as one girl went short side as she was making her move to the post. She had not been rocked like that since she was a first year U8, so her confidence was a bit shaken.

BUT both she and her team rose to the occasion, winning the next 4 games. Together they only allowed 3 goals on 43 SOG in 4 games with 2 shutouts! The 3rd place game was 7-0 pounding of the '02 Machine from Minnesota Made. Mikayla had a very crucial save late in the first period when we were up 2-0, a butterfly slide toward the center of the crease, catching and clutching the puck just as Grant had showed her last week. It was the save of the game in my opinion as it would have made it a one goal game and momentum would have swung in their favor. (Only wished I'd had it on video, it was a very sweet save!)

Overall, it was a fantastic experience for her in net, and the training lessons she had leading up to this event were key in her preparation and success in this tournament. Thank you for arranging to have Grant work with her, the time spent with her at Shattuck was well worth the performance she had and the outcome she experienced was priceless.

Des,

He is playing a lot better.  He is staying in the ready position longer and his focus on the puck has improved too.  We can see that he is more aware of where the puck is during practice and is not flopping around so much in front of the goal.  They have their first game this week so we will see if more transfers to the game situation this week.  Thanks for all of your help.  It is a great experience for Khrystjan.  He is learning a lot. Thank You.

Last weekend, my team went to Duluth for a tournament, pretty much our last tryout. On the last day of the tournament, they told me that I would the back-up for Varsity and starter for JV! Not many 7th graders can beat out a freshman, and back up for a senior! I owe most of my success to The Goalie Club! Thanks to all the staff that have helped me through my life as a goalie!

With Thanks

Jessica K.

The Goalie Club and Des Christopher have been a valuable addition to our hockey program at Shattuck –St. Mary’s. His approach to teaching the skills for the goaltender position are based on a solid base of fundamentals which is the same as we have for all of our players in our program. Our goalies have benefited from Des and his staff’s time spent with our kids both on and off the ice. I would recommend The Goalie Club for any goalie looking for professional instruction, from great people.”

Tom Ward (Director of Shattuck St. Mary's)

Since I started working with Coach Des and the TGC staff a few years ago my game has improved immensely. TGC not only stresses the importance of the basic fundamentals, but also adds the latest styles and techniques to make your game as successful as possible. They accept nothing but your very best, and their passion for the game will likely rub off on you as well. They also focus on developing the complete person as much as the complete goaltender, knowing that your success on the ice starts away from the rink.

Kevin Murdock (NCAA D1 MN State, USHL 08-09 All-Star)

I have been training exclusively with Coach Des and The Goalie Club since grade school. From learning the basic fundamentals to advanced situational play, on and off the ice, Des has helped me develop into the goaltender I am today. A starting varsity goaltender in high school, a top performing goaltender in the State High School Championships, and now playing in the USHL - TGC made it happen for me!

Tyler Bruggeman (USHL/NAHL Goaltender)

"My son Danny had been to many goaltender camps, and didn't find one he liked until he met Des. We've been with Des and his camps, and wouldn't go anywhere else. Des challenges the goalies to get better, and encourages them at the same time. He's great on both the technical and the mental aspects of being a goaltender. We're happy we've spent so much time with Des and would recommend his camps to any goaltender that wants to improve."
